More info: Belugas are also called white whales because of their unusual and very distinguishable colour. They are extremely sociable mammals that live, hunt and migrate together in pods, ranging from a few individuals to hundreds.

Their bulbous forehead, called a "melon”, is flexible and capable of changing shape, which allows them to make different facial expressions. Belugas are able to communicate with a series of chirps, clicks, whistles and squeals, which gives the beluga its other name, "the canary of the sea." Their diet consists of a variety of fish species, such as salmon and herring, as well as shrimp, crabs and molluscs.
