More Info: Northern Cardinals are the most frequently spotted birds in Alabama and are residents of the state all year. They can be attracted to backyard feeders with sunflower seeds, peanut hearts, millet, and milo. They will feed from large tube feeders, hoppers, platform feeders, or food scattered on the ground.

Cardinals are very territorial birds, especially during the breeding season.

The State Bird of Alabama since 1927, is the Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus)
