More info: Many beautiful tropical birds visit this feeder including colourful hummingbirds, tanagers, motmots, euphonias and doves. Other visitors include the elusive Tayra which is a bit like a pine marten and forest squirrels which love the bananas.
Nocturnal creatures include the opossum, mouse opossum and the kinkajou - a small and unusual tree dwelling member of the raccoon family.
Hummingbirds in Ecuador can be found in nearly every type of habitat from sea level to the high altitude regions of the Andes and some may even be found in cities and towns. Ecuador holds the world record for the number of hummingbird species in one country and is home to over 132 species.
