The golden eagle is part of a broad group of raptors called "booted eagles" which are defined by having feathered legs.

More info: Golden eagles mate for life and nest in multiple alternate nests within their breeding territory. Females lay up to four eggs, and then incubate them for six weeks. Typically, one or two young survive to fledge in about three months.
