More info: Great tits invariably nest in holes, but here they can be remarkably inventive, often using manmade sites such as post boxes. It is a woodland bird which has readily adapted to man-made habitats and now become a familiar garden visitor.
A great tit clutch can be anything from five to eleven eggs and the incubation is carried out by the female. The young usually leave the nest around 20 days after hatching.
