More info: The International Owl Center is a non-profit organization working to make the world a better place for owls through education and research. It is located in the bluff country region of southeast Minnesota. The owl center has lots of static and interactive displays where people can learn more about these fantastic feathered creatures and what can be done to help them.
There are 12 public owl sculptures located throughout Houston which can be viewed year-round.
Owls breed in the winter, so in fall they are beginning the courtship and at night you may well hear the hooting of the great horned owl. Great horned owls are monogamous and the hooting between a pair of breeding adults strengthens their bond as well as warding off other owls who may wish to claim their territory. The male’s call is a lower, deeper voice, and the female’s a higher pitch. Often the two will hoot over one another and the calls may go on for hours.
