  • Info: Live webcam showing white tailed eagles nesting in the Cairngorms of Scotland. White-tailed eagles, also known as sea eagles, are thought not to have bred in this part of the Cairngorms since the early 1800s. The species became extinct in Scotland in 1918 but were reintroduced to the west coast in 1975, using eagles from Norway.

More info: Scottish white-tailed eagles like nest sites with sheltered lochs or sea lochs rather than exposed coastal sites. They build their nest in trees, unlike golden eagles, which usually prefer rocky crags. Once White/tailed eagles have staked out a territory, they generally stay there for life.
