More info: The whooper swan also known as the common swan, is the Eurasian counterpart of the North American trumpeter swan. The whooper swan is similar to a Bewick's swan but is larger. Their call is a deep honking which is very similar to geese.

Large bodies of water are needed by whooper swans, especially in the growing stage as their body weight cannot be supported bt their legs, for long periods of time. They feed on aquatic vegetation, roots, stems and leaves, but also venture on to fields to graze on agricultural grasslands and crops. This ability to switch between aquatic and terrestrial food sources helps them survive in different environments throughout the year.
