More Info: Loch Leven Nature Reserve is set on the southern shore of the loch. Red Squirrels are regularly seen around the visitor centre and woodland areas. Red squirrels are the native species, while the larger grey squirrels are an invasive non-native species introduced from North America in the 1870s.

Loch Leven Nature Reserve is also home to swallows and breeding waders in spring and summer, migratory geese and whooper swans in autumn, and woodland birds all year round. There are plenty of trails to explore including the Wetland Trail with bird hides, a steep woodland hill trail and an accessible, gentle Leafy Loop walk. A picnic area overlooks the loch and sorriunding countryside.
