More info: Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals through Education, Law Enforcement, Intervention, & Advocacy. spcaLA is an independent, nonprofit animal welfare organization which has been serving Southern California since 1877. They work extremely hard with their limited resources to extend medical services. Donations and their businesses subsidize the medical care they provide to their shelter animals. As a result, many conditions that would doom the life of a dog or cat in another shelter can be treated by spcaLA.

The Society performs amputations when needed, removes tumors, sets broken limbs, and treats contagious conditions like mange or ringworm, all on animals that were otherwise un-adoptable, in order to save lives and rehome the animals.

Cats displaying dangerous behaviours or other problems such as not using the litter box, are assessed to see if the problem can be fixed and then worked with in order to find have them adopted in to a forever home.
