Ferrets are members of the weasel family and have been domesticated for over 2000 years. They are lively, curious and fun-loving creatures who are very social and can make great pets for the right owner, forming a strong bond with their carers.
Ferrets typically enjoy living in groups and communicate with each other using scent. They also use posture and sound to indicate how they are feeling.
While ferrets can and do vocalize, generally, they are very quiet. The most noise they will make is if they are very frightened or injured. They also sleep away a large portion of the day.
