More info: The brown pelican is one of two species of pelicans found in Florida, the white pelican being the other. They have distinctive pouches under their bills and cannot be mistaken for the white pelican due to the size and colour difference.
Brown pelicans are found in saltwater habitats and are strictly coastal and rarely live more than 20 miles or 32 km from the shoreline. They roost offshore at night and loaf during the day after or while foraging.
